On 7th February 2023, the Breakthrough Cancer Research charity invested €1 million and established the first Oesophageal All-Ireland Cancer Network (AllCaN), along with an additional ~€200,000 of collaborative funding and support from the CROSS and the Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCR) charities. The successful awardees, Prof. Jacintha O’Sullivan (Trinity College Dublin), Prof. Helen Coleman (Queen’s Univeristy Belfast) and Prof. Juliette Hussey (Trinity College Dublin) received the €1.2 million investment which will aim to see researchers, clinicians, patients, and industry work together to significantly improve all-Ireland oesphageal cancer survival rates.
